Work-Life-Balance for Real Estate Agents

As real estate agent, you have a lot of stuff on your plate. It's easy to get lost between listing appointments and closings. A busy work life makes work-life-balance even more important!

But what is work-life-balance – and how can you achieve it?

You might be a parent, you probably have hobbies, friends and other things that need your attention outside of work.

One of the best ways to picture work-life-balance is to understand that all of these different areas of your life are different plates.

Instead of thinking of managing all these different things on one plate, think of them as independent plates: A family plate, a work plate, a sports plate, a fitness plate. While spinning all these plates there will be different times and different seasons where I have to give more attention to one of these plates and make sure it's still going.

It helps to be all in:

  • As a working parent it’s important to take the time for your kids' needs. If something else in your life needs attention, it's important to be sensitive to that while at the same time getting shit done in all other important areas.

  • While at home, spin that plate, focusing on your family, make sure that you have everything you need in this area.

  • There are different seasons in our life. When it's busy season in real estate, it's probably not the time for a weight lifting competition. There will be a time for that. When spinning the work plate full speed, it's not necessarily possible to go hundred percent in all other areas as well.

  • If business a little slower, it's the time to spin the family- or exercise plate and focusing on these areas in my life.

Thinking about your life as different plates that need different attention in different times helps you achieve the often mentioned "work-life-balance"!
