Real estate part time - is it possible? Mike Novak from The Novak Team in Everett about starting real estate as a side gig and creating a transition plan to your dream career as an agent.

Starting out part time is attractive to both people starting out in real estate and new agents joining a team. But, can you make it as a part time agent? Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this question. Yes, and no – it depends.

  • Side gig: If you are planning real estate to be a part time gig and are looking to sell one or two homes a year, being a part time agent is absolutely possible.

  • Transition: The same goes with starting out part time and transitioning into being a full-time agent. Using another full-time job as security while building up your real estate career is a great way to slowly transition into being an agent alone or on a team.

Dale, one of the Rockstar agents on our team, was a bartender before starting out his career in real estate. He worked as bartender part time, while being in real estate on his own part time.

When joining after our team, we worked on a transition plan for him to get into real estate full time. Dale was here for prospecting, started working on his lead conversion and his skill set. With all the effort he put into it, it took Dale about four months until he was ready to pull the plug on his bartending gig and could finally join the team full-time.

After committing a hundred percent, something amazing happened to Gale’s career: He went from selling one house a month to selling three or four properties a month. In his first year on our team, Dale crushed it with selling 30 houses.

Just as a comparison: Prior to joining our team, Dale’s best year had been selling 10 houses being in real estate part time on his own. He tripled his number with being fully committed and having the support of a team behind him.

Dale’s success was possible due to a thorough plan for transitioning from part-time to full-time while keeping it all together.
