Calling People is Not Scary! Part 1/3

Does the thought of calling people as a sales person scare the hell out of you? Then this three-part-series is for you! Developing three strategies to overcome your dread of the phone will help you to move on from this common fear almost every sales person had at some point in time.

No surprise that the idea of picking up the phone and calling a complete stranger is kind of terrifying. We all got that fear when we started in sales! In the next couple of days, you will learn about different coping strategies.

Part 1: Your mindset.

Improving your attitude is one of the first steps to be successful on the phone! Three simple tricks can help you to achieve that:

1) Affirmations: Overcome your fear of rejection with some simple affirmations. One of the affirmations that can help you to get your head into the right space is that people need your help and it's your responsibility to reach out and provide the expertise they need. This can be a game changer!

2) Best case/worst case scenario: Think about the worse that could happen when you do this phone call. People could hang up on you and tell you to screw yourself. But: You will never see them again, they even don't know who you are - so why does it matter. The best case: The call goes well, you could sell them a home and you become best friends.

3) Think of the phone as an ATM or slot machine: Once you get good on the phone, it's like hitting the jackpot every time you use a slot machine. You put some money in and out comes a bunch of dollar bills.

Stay tuned for part 2 and 3 of our three-part series about losing your fear of the phone!
